I have been noticing the horizons of hills and mountains where one can see the clear, clean silhouettes of tree shapes. The shape of the tree and the space around it are a source of interest for me. A tree can be similar to the same variety of tree and yet discernibly different. In my paintings, I repeat a type of tree with some of its possible variations. I repeat these horizontal silhouettes for the opportunity to explore and experience the many variations on a theme.

These paintings of trees are tied to an Eccentric Artist Garden called Dances with Branches, where I have made arrangements of branches and their silhouettes.
