Elizabeth Black

Our one acre farm-ette preserves the North-Boulder-Dog-Patch tradition. There’s lots of found-metal junk and a make-do kind of garden. Function, hardiness, ease and economy take precedence over perfection.

I flood irrigate with Silver Lake Ditch water, which has influenced my landscape design, as have the deer (recently fenced out, hooray!). Seven years ago, my husband and I put in 977 Christmas trees to supplement our art income and our large vegetable garden.
I like geometric forms in the garden: straight lines and circles. I enjoy the contrast between hard-scape geometry and organic plant shapes.
